I started toying with the idea of a book blog in 2009 when I participated in Infinite Summer, where readers tackled David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest over the course of three months. In January 2010, this blog was born.
A few of my interests & book-related things about me, for those inquiring minds that want to know (or not):
- I am a librarian and history adjunct.
- I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English & Philosophy, a Master of Arts degree in Women’s History, and a Master of Library and Information Science.
- About a third of the books on my shelves are women’s studies-related nonfiction.
- I make quilts.
- I have two dogs, six cats, and two parrots.
- I travel a lot.
- I love Ethiopian food.
- I’m a feminist who loves Jonathan Franzen. Yeah. I said it.
Psst.

No further action necessary on your part.
I found your site when I did a google search on “Telegraph Avenue character list.” I’m about a third of the way through Chabon’s book and I’m ready to chuck it. Your review seems to be spot on! I enjoyed reading your reviews and looking at your book lists and challenges. You’ve given me some great ideas! And, I think it’s about time you get A Handmaid’s Tale off your list. Read it already!!!
Junot Diaz is my literary crush too. Man can write. And is good looking.
Jonathan Frazen ain’t so bad either. I haven’t seen a picture of him though. So glad I found this!
I also adore Frida Khalo. Is this me writing another blog without me knowing 🙂
Greetings! I’ve just nominated you for a Versatile Blogger Award, because I genuinely enjoy reading your posts.
I totally understand that these awards are not for everyone (and you may already have it), but should you choose to accept it, here’s the link to your nomination:
